The Women Build program through Habitat for Humanity organizes a female only volunteer teams to raise the funds and build a Habitat house. The Evansville branch sponsors a Women Build program every other year, enlisting 20+ women as Foundation Leaders with each recruiting up to 10 women for their team. One of the Foundation Leaders is Susan Parsons, Koch Enterprise’s CFO.
Susan has been active throughout the build and recently recruited fellow Koch team members to prepare the landscaping. The team “rocked it” prepping the ground, removing rocks and other debris, and spreading the grass seed and straw. This was one of the last steps of the house build, and the new homeowner and her son will be moving in very soon.
Habitat for Humanity builds houses which are then sold to homeowners selected based on their need for housing, ability to repay a zero-percent APR mortgage, and willingness to partner with Habitat. The homes are built with volunteer labor, and mortgage payments are affordable for the low-income homeowners.
