Unsurpassed Quality
Gibbs has evolved into the most technically advanced manufacturer of quality die cast components in the world. Nowhere is this more evident than in our quality systems which seamlessly combine our operators, casting presses, and computer systems. Standardized work instructions paired with state of the art computerized process failure detection systems ensure unsurpassed quality for our customers.
Quality begins at the press with Standardized Work:
It starts with our manufacturing process in which each step has a uniform cycle time based on the overall cycle time of the casting press. Gibbs creates a list of every production operation and inspection step necessary to ensure 100% acceptability for each part produced. All production and inspection steps are time studied and divided into work sequences that can be accurately performed within the Overall Cycle Time. Managers or teammates can enter time study data and organize the work sequence on-screen. The sequence can be animated for visually reviewing all casting and finishing work within the cell. Standardized Work instructions are then prepared, tested and implemented. When complete, the illustrated work instructions are printed in a large display and posted in the work cell at each press.
Quality is monitored with State of the art Computerized Process Failure Detection:
Gibbs has developed an effective and flexible Process Failure Detection System by defining targets and acceptable ranges for every parameter in the die casting process. Predetermining the conditions that result in unacceptable castings achieves an important quality milestone - objective quality control. The operator is immediately instructed to scrap any castings manufactured with parameters that are outside the predetermined acceptable ranges. Guaranteeing that the process is on-target assures the internal integrity of all castings. Our Process Failure Detection System also permits absolute traceability, if serialization of castings is required.
Quality goes World Wide
Finally, Gibbs has recently implemented a global network to provide real-time monitoring and management of every casting press and furnace in all of our plants around the world. The system collects up to 100 parameters per shot including everything from actual cycle time to vacuum pressure and is accessible via a secured connection to the Internet. This global network also allows plant managers and engineers to share their data with their counterparts around the globe to assist in problem solving and to adjust casting parameters in real time.
